Using Information Technology Is Not as Scary as it Seems

As the world of computers evolves and information technology advances occur, it can be frustrating for businesses and home owners to keep up with the latest technology and website designs. When there are pressing tasks at hand , one can’t afford to waste time or energy on learning everything needed for each project. What you need is someone who specializes in providing speedy and reliable solutions or conslutation for your unique situation, be it website design, logo creation, computer maintance and networking solutions, accounting, databases or production control.

These days it’s strange to hear people say, “I’m computer illiterate,” as computers have evolved from complex scientific calculators to plain point-and-press type machines. We believe that today’s “computer illiterates” are people who have not found the time to experiment with that machine. We strongly believe that dedicating twenty minutes to one could turn the wildest neanderthal caveman into one having fun in forums and chatroom of the Internet today.

Nowadays one only needs to know how to move a mouse, hit a few keys on the keyboard, or really just turn the computer on. It may be hard for some to believe, but computers of our era nearly run on their own! For the fun of it, let us investigate just how little expertise these thousand-dollar machines actually need.

Can an newbie run computers without knowing how to use a mouse or keyboard? Assuming that a computer is set to respond to voice command – sure! Information technology advences have produced voice command software, allowing users to tell a computer what to do and the computer responds by fulfilling the commands. Although it’s somewhat new and being developed, voice directed technology has already penetrated consumer service related systems.

Think of the last time you paid your bill over the phone. Instead of talking to a human, chances are it was a computer that not only responded to what you said and followed the commands received, it also required additional information – your full name or credit card data. In this case, you interacted  with a computer without even knowing it!

Can an newbie sit down at a computer and not know how to use it? Assuming that a computer is set up to respond to touch – the answer is – yes! Touch screens allow users to literally poke objects on a monitor and direct the computer with a finger. Also known as “kiosks,” these programs are already in worldwide use in ATM machines, job centers, and health monitoring systems.

Neither a mouse nor a keyboard is compulsory. The user only needs to touch various areas of the screen to control the device. No doubt, the software enabling such technology is sophisticated, but the end user sees the machine as far less intimidating or outright simple.

When talking about operating a computer, we assume more than just speaking over the phone or touching items on a screen. The illustrations were picked just to show how far information technology has evolved, and how “user-friendliness” has increased. Eventually, the keyboard and mouse will still have a role to play when newbies have to work with one at a cash register, a hotel booking system or as a library’s catalog.

These requirements don’t make computers any harder to operate, however. Much of today’s information technology is designed in a way to enable any rookie to connect to the Internet, send emails message, and download an mp3 files within the first few hours of laying their hands on a new personal computer.
